There is a captivating background to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is illegal. Eight casinos are based in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect destination, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship casino, highlights 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel complex that features a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
