There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat casino, features 150 slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel building that features many conveniences on top of the casino, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
